Privacy Policy
Your videos never leave your iPhone. Vocap recognises speech and writes captions into the picture using the device’s own processor. There is no server that sees your footage, no upload, and no copy of your media anywhere but on your device and in the photo library you save to.
What we never receive
- Your videos and audio. Imported clips are copied into Vocap’s own private storage on the device and are deleted when you delete the project.
- Your transcripts. Recognised words are stored on the device with the project and are not transmitted.
- Your photo library. Vocap asks only for permission to add videos to it. It cannot read your library.
- Your name, email or account. Vocap has no accounts and no sign-in.
What is collected, and by whom
Vocap uses two Google Firebase services to understand whether the app works and where it breaks. Neither of them receives your video, your audio or your transcripts.
- Firebase Analytics records anonymous events such as “a video was imported”, “a transcription finished”, “the paywall was shown”, together with a Google-generated app instance identifier, your device model, OS version, and coarse country. We use this to see which steps people abandon.
- Firebase Crashlytics records crash and error reports: the stack trace, device model, OS version, and the state of the app at the moment it failed.
Google processes this data as our processor. Their handling is described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy. Data is retained for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically.
Tracking and advertising
Vocap contains no advertising and does no tracking. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and does not share data with data brokers or advertising networks. Nothing collected is linked to your identity or used to follow you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Speech recognition
Recognition uses Apple’s on-device speech engine with the on-device requirement set and never cleared. If a language has no on-device model available, Vocap shows an error naming that language rather than falling back to a network service. On iOS 26 it can download the model for that language from Apple; the download contains no content of yours.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. We receive from Apple only whether an active subscription exists for the device.
Children
Vocap is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices
Deleting the app removes every project, video copy and transcript stored on the device. To request deletion of analytics or crash data associated with your app installation, email us and we will remove it from Firebase.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published here with a new date before the change takes effect in a released version of the app.
